CKaTT's
Under 13 years old Boys team won the Gold in the Eastern Canadian
Championships held last June 26-29, 2008 at the Edouard-Montpetit
Sports Center in Montreal, Quebec by beating Scarborough in the
championship game, 75-61.
CKaTT dispatched
their first round opponents from Quebec with incredible ease,
beating ABC Sports, 91-18, and Brookwood, 112-48. They had an
equally easy time in their semi-final game against the team from
PEI, 113-22 en route to an exciting championship game against their
Basketball Ontario's arch-rival.
CKaTT's Cornell
Mohamed and Christian Hewitt were named to the Eastern Canada
All Star Team. Hewitt was the tournament's Most Valuable
Player (MVP).
The team will
travel to British Columbia in August to play against the best team
of Western Canada in the Canada National Championship.
The CKaTT team
members are Roenik Baello, James Cruz, Ernesto Yalung, Ron Rivera,
Justin Ramos-Taylor, Cornell Mohamed, Matthew Carating, Christian
Hewitt, Adrian Lopez-Williams, Kean Lopez, Rayon Miller and Francis
Kiapway. The team Coaches are Ronald Baello and Arnold Carating and
the team managers are Ed Lopez and Paul Cruz.
Meanwhile, on the
other side of the border, CKaTT's Boys Junior team (17 years old and
under) were also making a lot of noise en route to their USA
Nationals Championship Title in Erie, Pennsylvania. CKaTT's
Junior team shook the floor, rocked the rim, and entertained the
crowd in a fantastic show of force.
