June 13, 2007.
Saturday,
June 9, 2007, will be etched in the memory lane of CKaTT's under 13
years old team as no ordinary day when they completed a rare feat in
basketball: winning two championship trophies on
the same day.
Saturday noon, they
won a close and very entertaining game against the Durham team for
the Tykes Division's championship of the Mississauga Pilipino
Athletic Association (MPAA) at the Lorne Park Secondary school gym
in Mississauga. CKaTT's Cornell Mohammed (4) was named the
tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Later that
afternoon, they played against and beat the same Durham team in the
championship game of the Peewee Division in the maiden season of the
North American Basketball Association (NABA) - GTA tournament at the Martingrove Collegiate Institute gym in
Toronto. CKaTT's Justin Ramos Taylor was chosen as the tournament's
Player of the Year while Adrian Lopez-Williams received the
Sportsmanship award. Coach Sean Taylor received the Coach of the
Year award.
As a fitting finale
to a glorious day, CKaTT's U13 team joined the rest of the CKaTT
organization teams in its annual Appreciation and Awards Night held
at the Vic Johnston Community Centre on that same Saturday night.
