CKaTT's Midget team (boys born 1992
or earlier) won the Gold medal in the Guelph CYO's 2007 Annual
Basketball Tournament held on April 13-15, 2007 at the Bishop
McDonnell High School in Guelph, Ontario.
CKaTT
wins all their regular pool games on Saturday beating the teams from
KW Vipers, Lindsay Wildcats and Caledon Cougars to earn a slot in
the playoffs held the following Sunday.
In the semi-finals on Sunday morning,
they beat Dundas Dynamo to advance to the Finals on Sunday afternoon
against the KW Vipers whom they beat for the second time for their
first Gold medal of the season.
The
smaller CKaTT team managed to overcome their height handicap with an
aggressive brand of basketball punctuated with speedy and precision
plays.
"The boys' hard
works during our practice sessions really paid off during the
tournament," Head Coach Ronald Baello said. "They played so
well together."
CKaTT
Boys of 1992 started getting attention from the other teams
immediately after their first game on Friday when they beat a strong
KW Vipers team. Guelph CYO Midget coach, Jim Lefler and
Tournament Coordinator Paul Keating told Head Coach Baello, "We
like and love to watch your team play. It's totally different and
spectacular style of basketball showing everyone that the game of
basketball is not just for the big man but more of a game of skill,
talent and team efforts."
Team Manager, Patty
Anupol, adds another element of the Midget's winning formula. "Aside
from the players' outstanding performance, the coaches made a big
difference. Without our good and dedicated coaches, our players will
not develop all these skills and abilities. My hat's off to all the
coaches. Well done job, par excellence."
